[Movies] The Terminator Franchise Is For Sale
Posted by Larry Csonka on 11.02.2009

According to The Financial Times, Halcyon, the production company that made Terminator: Salvation, will auction off their screen rights to the Terminator film franchise this month. TFT notes the following…

" Halcyon will test Hollywood intellectual property valuations at a time when film industry profits are under pressure from falling DVD sales."

As of now, Sony is the leading candidate to purchase the rights, while Summit Entertainment (the studio behind Twilight), and Platinum Equity are all interested. The deal would include the rights to Terminator: Salvation as well as a possible Terminator 5 film, but none of the Schwarzenegger Terminator films.

You only get the rights to the McTerminator bomb and what little future the franchise has left? Good luck with all that...

You only get the rights to salvation? That's like getting the batman rights and only getting batman & robin. Lame.
